Central Okanagan Public Schools has partnered with many business and community organizations to help students connect their career-life plan with their individual talents and passions. Students in Grades 10-12 can use a wide range of opportunities to gain the 30-hours of Career Exploration required to graduate.

Conferences & Events

Job Shadows

Job Shadows allow students to explore specific career interests through placement at a work site. Students earn hours towards their 30 hours career life exploration required to graduate.

YMCA

The YMCA Okanagan offers multiple opportunities to schools and students; career exploration through Spotlight sessions as well as various volunteer experiences.

Spotlight Sessions

Experts in their field share their knowledge and passions in our schools. Students earn hours hours towards their 30 hours required to graduate.

Take Our Kids to Work Day

Grade 9 students take part in this well-known career exploration event in November. Students spend the day in the life of a working professional.

Virtual Career Spotlights

Virtual career spotlights allow for real-world experiences to be brought into the classroom. Virtual tours are developed from areas of student interests that are unattainable. Tours are interactive and allow students to ask questions real-time. BC Dragoon Spotlight

iGen

The iGen Challenge is for grade 7-12 students who want to innovate and engage with entrepreneurship. Career-Life Programs has partnered with local businesses and organizations to provide both financial support and mentorship opportunites for our students.

JABC

Junior Achievement BC brings educational experiences to students in partnership with educators and volunteers. Programs are provided free of charge both in-class or online and cover elementary, middle & high school levels. Topics covered include Financial Literacy, Work Readiness and Entrepreneurship.
